Finance ministry to suggest currency controls easing in 2018
MOSCOW, Sep 26 (PRIME) -- The Finance Ministry plans to prepare suggestions to liberalize currency controls in 2018, and plans to decide whether to allow repatriation of hard currency revenue in rubles for exporters which settle their deals in rubles this year, Deputy Minister Alexei Moiseyev told reporters on Tuesday.
“Our goal is to allow or deny repatriation of ruble revenue…we have prepared a concept and we will write a bill if the government supports it. It is connected to the fact that we on the one hand support the ruble in international settlements, the ruble is a reserve currency and there are prerequisites for that, but unfortunately we push the ruble into Russia on our own request,” he said.
“After that we will have other suggestions on a larger scale of liberalization of currency control, but this is a story for next year.”
